About
'Okina Jewelry is an artist-owned studio, where we fuse the culture and materials of Hawai'i with a modern twist in all of our designs. We specialize in custom wedding, engagement and anniversary rings and love working with couples to create designs as unique as they are. All jewelry we sell is designed and made by hand in our tiny studio on the Big Island of Hawai'i. Our goal is to create beautifully-crafted art to wear for years to come.
'Okina Jewelry gets its name from the phonemic notation that signifies a glottal stop in the Hawaiian language (seen at the beginning of the word 'okina). We believe that the beauty in life is tucked into its tiny pauses. Learn more about the name in our video.
Learn more about the artist/owner, Kristin Mitsu Shiga, and her past work on a segment that was done on her for Oregon Public Broadcasting's show, "Oregon Artbeat" HERE, or in her presentation at the 13th Annual Seattle Metals Guild Symposium HERE.
